Record with a RaceBox

Last updated Sep 25, 2026

A RaceBox (Mini, Mini S, or Micro) gives you much higher-rate GPS than a phone, which means sharper deltas, cleaner corner analysis, and a more accurate racing line.

Steps

  1. Turn the RaceBox on and keep it near your phone.
  2. In LapperSnapper, open the Record tab and choose RaceBox as the source.
  3. Tap Scan for RaceBox. Nearby devices appear in a list — tap yours to connect.
  4. Once connected, tap Start recording and drive your session. The live HUD and Drive mode work exactly as they do with phone GPS.
  5. Tap Stop when you're done — the session saves to Sessions and opens ready to analyze.

Importing RaceBox recordings

A Mini S or Micro stores recordings on the device. Once it's connected (and you're not recording), tap Import recorded laps: the app reads the device's memory, lists what it finds, and you pick which recordings to import. If the RaceBox has a security code set, you'll be asked for it — too many wrong codes can make it refuse connections until it's power-cycled.

You can also bring in recordings as files: open Import → Choose a file and pick a .ubx file. Either way, a Track conditions sheet follows — see Tag the track state after an import.

Tips

  • Bluetooth allows one connection at a time — close other apps that may be holding the RaceBox.
  • Mount the RaceBox with a clear view of the sky, as flat as possible.
  • Keep LapperSnapper on screen while recording with a RaceBox — switching to another app or locking the phone stops and saves the recording, on iPhone and Android alike.
  • If recording won't start while the app is fetching the device's stored history, let the download finish first.
