Import a session file (.xrk, .ubx, .csv, .vbo, .mp4)

Last updated Oct 1, 2026

Any supported session file can be imported directly — useful for files shared by a teammate, copied from a memory card, or exported by another app.

Steps

  1. Open the Import tab.
  2. Tap Choose a file.
  3. Pick the file from your phone's file browser — local storage, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, and similar all work.
  4. The session opens straight away, parsed and ready to analyze, and is saved in Sessions.
  5. A Track conditions sheet asks how the track was. Tag it, or tap Not now — see Tag the track state after an import.

Picking a video (.mp4 / .mov) takes you through the GoPro flow instead — see Import GoPro video with GPS telemetry.

Supported types

  • .xrk / .xrz / .drk — AiM MyChron session files
  • .ubx — RaceBox recordings
  • .csv — phone GPS logs recorded by LapperSnapper
  • .vbo — RaceLogic VBOX files exported from RaceChrono, TrackAddict, Harry's LapTimer, or another RaceBox app
  • .mp4 / .mov — GoPro video with embedded GPS telemetry

Tips

  • On Android, you can skip the picker: share a supported file from Files, Drive, email, or a chat app and choose LapperSnapper — see Share a session file to LapperSnapper from another app.
  • On iPhone, there's no share or "Open in" option for LapperSnapper yet. Save the file to the Files app first (AirDrop and Mail can both do that), then use Choose a file.
  • In the web app at app.lappersnapper.com, Choose a file imports logger files; video import needs the phone app.
  • If a file won't import, it may be incomplete or from an unsupported device — see Contact support and send us the file; format coverage grows all the time.

If logger files are greyed out on iPhone

Update to LapperSnapper 1.6.0 or later, which adds the iPhone file-picker declarations for .xrk, .xrz, .drk, and .ubx. Save the file in Files, then choose it through the app's Import tab. This does not add an iPhone share or Open in action. If the picker still will not select the file, contact us with the app version and file type.
