The app can't find my MyChron

Last updated 21 days ago

Scanning finds nothing, or the download won't start? Work through this list — it resolves almost every case.

Checklist

  1. Is the logger's Wi-Fi on? Turn the MyChron on and enable Wi-Fi on the device itself (see your MyChron manual for your model's menu).
  2. Is your phone on the logger's network? Open your phone's Wi-Fi settings and join the network named AiM-…. Being near the logger isn't enough — the phone must join that network.
  3. On iPhone, check Cellular Data. iOS can silently reroute the app's traffic to cellular even while you're still joined to AiM-… — with no prompt shown. If downloads fail or drop mid-session, turn Cellular Data off while connecting to the MyChron, then back on afterward. (This doesn't affect Android.) Also worth checking: some phones silently hop back to a known Wi-Fi network — confirm you're still on AiM-….
  4. Stay close. The logger's Wi-Fi range is short; scan from beside the kart, not across the awning.
  5. Rescan. Back in LapperSnapper: Import → MyChron and scan again. There's also a manual connect option if scanning still comes up empty.
  6. Restart both. Power-cycle the MyChron, toggle the phone's Wi-Fi off and on, and try once more.

Downloads that fail partway

Move closer and retry — the app resumes with the sessions that didn't make it. If one session repeatedly fails to read, its file may be incomplete on the logger.

Still stuck? See Contact support — include your MyChron model and phone model.
